Emirates Health Services (EHS) celebrates another milestone as Al Qassimi Women’s & Children’s Hospital secures the “Baby-Friendly Hospital” designation for the second time, following an assessment by the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, represented by the National Committee for Motherhood and Childhood under the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP).

This recognition highlights the hospital’s unwavering dedication to excellence in maternal and child healthcare, marked by outstanding performance in health indicators and full alignment with global standards. The achievement underscores its successful adoption of the WHO’s Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding, strict adherence to international and local guidelines, and leadership in fostering supportive environments for mothers and newborns.

Dr. Safia Al Khaja, Director of Al Qassimi Women’s & Children’s Hospital, praised her team’s efforts, stating: “This accolade reaffirms our commitment to advancing healthcare innovation under the guidance of the UAE’s visionary leadership. Retaining this title since 2021 reflects our sustained excellence and dedication to world-class patient care”.

The hospital’s holistic approach includes educational programs for mothers during prenatal and postnatal visits, empowering them with knowledge to continue breastfeeding and adopt healthy practices. These efforts align with the WHO/UNICEF “Baby-Friendly Hospital” initiative, which prioritizes breastfeeding as the optimal foundation for infant health while training healthcare teams to deliver evidence-based maternal and child support.

Al Qassimi Women’s & Children’s Hospital joins six other EHS facilities honored with this title, including Al Dhaid, Khorfakkan, Kalba, Al Kuwait Hospital Dubai, Al Fujairah, and Abdullah Bin Omran hospital, showcasing EHS’s system-wide commitment to elevating care for women and children.

This milestone aligns with EHS’s strategic vision to integrate global best practices, advanced training, and sustainable systems, cementing the UAE’s position as a beacon of medical excellence.
