His Excellency Dr. Yousif Mohamed AlSerkal, Director General of Emirates Health Services, confirmed that EHS facilities in the Eastern Region are supported by an advanced system that ensures continuity in providing efficient and flexible health services under any circumstances. The system is backed by real-time and continuous monitoring through EHS’s Emergency Operations Centre, he added, noting that this further enhances response speed and quality of care provided to customers without interruption.

During an inspection tour that included Dibba Hospital - Fujairah, Kalba Hospital, Al Halah Health Centre, and Alfaseel Family Health Promotion Centre, His Excellency explained that sustaining health services at this level reflects the maturity of the proactive approach adopted by EHS and its commitment to developing an integrated health system capable of keeping pace with various developments and navigating them with high efficiency.

The advanced digital and smart services system developed by EHS plays a central role in ensuring continuity of healthcare. It offers a comprehensive set of flexible solutions, including telehealth services, which benefited around 42,000 patients across the facilities included in the visit, as well as a Digital Care Centre for remote consultations and follow-ups, and virtual urgent care services.

The system enables beneficiaries to easily book, reschedule, or cancel appointments via the app or website, in addition to providing online access to lab results and medical reports, and home delivery services for medication. This ensures smooth and efficient delivery of health services through multiple integrated channels, providing beneficiaries with a seamless and effective healthcare experience.

Furthermore, EHS has reinforced its proactive communication approach through integrated channels that enable direct interaction with customers, in addition to activating a hotline at the call centre to provide support in emergencies, answer inquiries, and guide customers to the best paths for obtaining services. This, in turn, reflects EHS’s commitment to providing a flexible and integrated healthcare experience.

Advanced Infrastructure

During the tour, H.E. Dr. AlSerkal reviewed the results of recent maintenance and development works at EHS facilities, including Dibba Hospital – Fujairah, where a comprehensive development project was implemented to update internal departments and ensure they meet the highest health standards, using sustainable and eco-friendly materials, while activating the EHS visual identity to enhance the general impression and raise service delivery efficiency.

The development works also included the obstetrics department and specialised clinics, in addition to restructuring the surgery and internal medicine clinics to be all in one location, thereby facilitating beneficiaries’ journey and enhancing integrated and effective care delivery. Three fully equipped training halls were also created to support the upskilling of healthcare professionals and enhance institutional performance efficiency. A robotic pharmacy will later be added as part of the hospital’s future plan.

Meanwhile, the development project at Al Halah Health Centre included running comprehensive maintenance, expanding the Customer Happiness Centre, updating all services and facilities in line with the highest quality and safety standards, and developing the external façade to reflect EHS’s institutional identity in a modern and innovative style.

Centres of Excellence, Notable Expansion of Services, and Prestigious International Accreditations

Health facilities in the Eastern Region have witnessed notable development in specialised services over the past few years. They provide an integrated system covering about 30 basic and advanced medical specialties, including cardiology, neurosurgery, bariatric surgery, dialysis services, and others. The hospitals have earned a range of prestigious international accreditations, which further supports their work and reflects their ongoing commitment to implementing global best practices.

Both Dibba Hospital - Fujairah and Kalba Hospital received international accreditation as Centres of Excellence for Diabetes Services, in addition to CARF accreditation for physical therapy and medical rehabilitation services. Kalba Hospital also received a 5-star rating according to the Global Star Rating System for services. Meanwhile, all EHS facilities have received accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI).

Significant expansions were recorded at the primary care level, where facilities now offer over 20 services, including primary urgent care; reproductive health programmes; maternity, pregnancy, and child health services; vaccinations; family medicine; periodic health screening (e-Etmenan); early disease detection, such as osteoporosis screenings and mammograms; smoking cessation services; genetic counselling via video; medication delivery; the urgent pathway option to access rapid services, designed to reduce crowding and facilitate access to services.

Growth in Service Volume and Operational Indicators

Operational data showed notable growth in the volume of services provided at EHS facilities in the Eastern Region. The number of visits at Dibba Hospital - Fujairah exceeded 205,000 in 2025, a 13% growth rate compared to 2024, while Kalba Hospital recorded around 155,000 visits with a similar growth rate.

Al Halah Health Centre received around 23,000 visits in 2025, marking a 29% increase compared to the previous year. The number of visits at Alfaseel Family Health Promotion Centre exceeded 27,500, representing a 7% growth compared to 2024.

Enhancing Customer Experience and Community Partnership

As part of developing the customer experience, the health facilities included in the tour implemented quality initiatives to enhance communication with the community. Kalba Hospital launched initiatives to listen to customer feedback and honour positive examples.

Primary care centres, particularly Alfaseel Family Health Promotion Centre, implemented over 21 community awareness programmes in 2025 and launched a pioneering initiative for immediate response to customer feedback from officials and another initiative which aims to enhance healthcare and improve patient experience by following up on their condition after referral to another facility.

With these efforts, the healthcare facilities achieved high levels of customer satisfaction on the ‘Customer Pulse’ indicator, with 98% recorded at both Dibba Hospital Fujairah and Alfaseel Family Health Promotion Centre, 97% at Al Halah Health Centre, and 94% at Kalba Hospital.

Strategic Directives to Enhance Quality of Specialised Care

During the tour, H.E. Dr. AlSerkal urged the facilities to reinforce efforts to attract more national medical talents in precise specialties to support the sustainability of specialised services and elevate the quality of healthcare services provided.

The EHS Director General also emphasised enhancing services through multidisciplinary teams and implementing specialised training programmes for service providers, in accordance with the latest approved treatment protocols based on clinical evidence. This serves to improve efficiency of treatment interventions and their outcomes.

Moreover, His Excellency stressed the importance of supporting these programmes with smart technologies, including interactive examination devices linked to patient files. This enables early detection of health changes and contributes to making accurate and timely treatment decisions to limit complications, enhance treatment outcomes, raise customer satisfaction levels, and motivate patients to adhere to treatment plans.

During the tour, H.E. AlSerkal met with healthcare professionals, where he expressed his appreciation for their efforts and dedication in performing their duties, stressing the need to continue implementing global best practices and scientific protocols to ensure the provision of safe, high-quality health services.
