As part of Emirates Health Services (EHS) strategy aimed at elevating the quality of healthcare services and achieving the goal of Zero Government Bureaucracy program, H.E. Dr. Yousif Mohamed Al Serkal, Director-General of EHS, conducted an inspection visit to EHS’s facilities in the Central Region. This visit included the Public Health Center in Al Dhaid and the primary healthcare centers in Nazwa, Al Madam, Al Thameed, Al Dhaid, and Kadra. He. was accompanied by H.E. Dr. Essam Al Zarooni, Acting Executive Director of the Clinical Services Sector at EHS, with the goal of assessing the challenges faced in service delivery and reviewing the efforts made at these centers to enhance customer experience and improve healthcare quality.
Smart Preventive Health, Focused on the Patient
During his tour, Dr. Yousif visited the Public Health Center in Al Dhaid and reviewed the integrated system employed by EHS in managing community health services, which includes a range of medical screenings, preventive vaccinations, and health awareness initiatives benefiting over 20,000 clients annually. He commended the center's adoption of the latest artificial intelligence technologies for predicting epidemics and identifying individuals at higher health risks. He also highlighted the implementation of the school health program "Basma," which has enrolled approximately 8,000 students from 15 public and private schools in the Central Region, achieving a success rate exceeding 97% in providing essential vaccinations for school children. Furthermore, the center has integrated AI technologies in radiology services to enhance the accuracy of tuberculosis diagnosis, achieving a 99% accuracy rate and reducing the time required for diagnosis from 72 hours to just 10 hours. He emphasized the importance of continued investment in such technological solutions that improve healthcare quality and contribute to achieving the goal of eliminating bureaucracy.
Around the Clock Care
H.E. also visited the primary healthcare centers in the region, including Nazwa, Al Madam, Al Thameed, Kadra, and Al Dhaid, which have been distributed according to geographical needs to keep pace with population growth. He expressed his appreciation for the tangible efforts made to elevate service levels and enhance primary healthcare, disease prevention, and a diverse range of emergency and general healthcare services, periodic comprehensive examinations, chronic disease management, and oral health maintenance. Some of these centers operate around the clock, in addition to the efforts of their staff in health campaigns and awareness initiatives for the local population, which contribute to enhancing individual health and promoting community well-being.
A Significant Digital Transformation
Thanks to the adoption of telemedicine services and advanced technologies that facilitate procedures and expedite service delivery, the primary healthcare centers have seen a noticeable improvement in their capacity, with client visits exceeding 50,000 since the beginning of the year. He reviewed modern devices and equipment that rely on AI technologies, including imaging devices and smart equipment for measuring patients' vital signs and monitoring emergency cases.
One-Step Laboratory Test Results
Al Serkal praised the latest enhancements, which include the introduction of a service that allows clients to access laboratory test results through a mobile app. This innovation enables clients to receive results directly from the app, reducing the number of steps required to obtain the service from three to just one, and decreasing the time taken to complete the service from 30 minutes to just three minutes.
Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Infrastructure
In line with EHS investment in its infrastructure and ensuring compliance with sustainable building standards and local climate conditions, which align with the needs of the region and exceed client expectations, Al Serkal examined the main challenges faced at the health centers he visited. He reviewed the progress of comprehensive maintenance work being carried out both internally and externally at the Kadra health center, as well as operational maintenance at the Nazwa health center. Additionally, he looked into the maintenance results recently conducted at the Al Thameed and Al Madam centers to ensure they align with the needs of the Central Region. He also inspected the expansion and comprehensive additions that have taken place at these centers and visited the newly constructed Public Health Center in Al Dhaid, commending the efforts made to integrate the latest environmental systems and renewable energy sources, and the use of eco-friendly building materials and innovative practices, such as eco-friendly paints, water and electricity consumption reduction technologies, thermal insulation of roofs, and the installation of solar-powered heaters, all of which meet security and safety requirements in line with international accreditation standards and the UAE's vision for excellence and leadership in healthcare services.
During his tour, Al Serkal met with several patients from the local community, checked on their well-being, and listened to their feedback. They expressed their admiration for the developments, noting the quality services provided that save them time and effort. In his meetings with healthcare and administrative staff, he commended their diligent efforts and stressed the importance of continuing to develop services and infrastructure to meet the growing needs of the community, while enhancing technological solutions that contribute to improving performance and elevate healthcare efficiency and quality.
