In conjunction with the UAE's celebrations of Emirati Women's Day celebrated on 28 August annually and in response to the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, Emirates Health Services (EHS) organized a special virtual forum as part of its celebratory events for this occasion.
This initiative aims to honor and celebrate the remarkable achievements of Emirati women in the field of healthcare and provide a platform for the exchange of experiences and knowledge among creative women in this vital field. Additionally, it seeks to highlight a selected group of female professionals and leaders who have made significant contributions to the development of the healthcare scene in society.
The forum witnessed the participation of a distinguished group of women leaders in the healthcare field. The event featured Dr. Sara AlShaya, Director of the Data and Statistics Department at EHS; Afra Salem, Director of Kuwait Hospital in Sharjah; Dr. Eman Deemas, Maternal and Fetal Health Specialist; Dr. Ameera Saif Al Khaja, Director of Primary Healthcare Centres in Sharjah, Dr. Alaa Alali, Orthodontic Consultant and Head of the Professional Affairs Department at EHS, as well as Laila Al Bahri, Assistant Director of Nursing Affairs at Fujairah Hospital.
During the opening speech, Dr. Sara AlShaya congratulated Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, "Mother of the Nation," on this occasion. She also extended her congratulations to all Emirati women in the country who have made remarkable progress in enhancing women's roles and their participation in various fields over the past several decades. This progress has allowed them to showcase their skills and creativity in fields such as science, medicine, technology, business, politics, arts, and more. Dr. AlShaya highlighted EHS’ commitment to promoting the status of women in the workplace, focusing on their outstanding achievements, successes, and their ability to lead more fulfilled lives. This commitment is reflected in providing equal opportunities for women in the field of medicine and healthcare, demonstrating EHS’ dedication to promoting balance and offering equal opportunities for all.
The forum addressed a range of important topics in the field of health and healthcare through discussions and presentations. These topics focused on enhancing the role of women in delivering high-quality healthcare and their prominent role in developing the healthcare sector in the UAE. The participants shared their professional journeys, exchanged experiences, and shared inspiring stories they had written during their educational and professional careers in EHS and its facilities.
The virtual forum provided an opportunity for participants to shed light on various issues, share their experiences, and engage in important discussions regarding the development of a robust healthcare system. It allowed for the exchange of ideas on how to improve healthcare services provided to patients.
