Emirates Health Services (EHS) has announced the completion of preparations for the 2025–2026 academic year through a comprehensive plan aimed at enhancing student health and ensuring a safe, sustainable educational environment. This reflects the EHS’s commitment to supporting uninterrupted learning via an integrated system of high-quality healthcare services.
H.E. Dr. Essam Al Zarooni, Acting Executive Director of the Medical Services Sector at EHS, emphasized the EHS’s ongoing efforts to develop school healthcare systems to better meet student needs. He stated: “We are dedicated to ensuring our schools remain safe, stimulating environments by delivering integrated healthcare services aligned with the highest national standards. These efforts protect students, promote their well-being, and ensure the new academic year becomes a launchpad for excellence and achievement.”
Comprehensive Preparations and Advanced Preventive Programs
EHS, which oversees 312 government schools and 333 school clinics nationwide, has equipped these facilities with qualified medical and nursing staff, along with all essential supplies, to provide efficient year-round care. EHS also issued a “Back to School Guide” containing health guidelines for students and parents to ensure a safe and healthy start to the year.
The student screening program has been expanded to include new tests for early detection of age-specific health issues. Additionally, medical staff have undergone training programs to enhance readiness and emergency response capabilities. Last academic year, over 95,000 students received vaccinations under the National Immunization Program through EHS clinics. This year, awareness campaigns will continue to emphasize timely vaccinations, balanced nutrition, personal hygiene, and daily preventive practices to boost student immunity.
Family Role in Supporting School Health
Dr. Shamsa Lootah, Director of Public Health Department at EHS, highlighted the importance of collaboration between families and schools: “A healthy school environment requires close cooperation among parents, educators, and healthcare teams. This year, our messaging focuses on families’ role in fostering daily healthy habits, from balanced nutrition and adequate sleep to hygiene awareness and preventive practices, to safeguard children’s health and academic success.”
Integrating Health and Education for Sustainable Development
These efforts align with EHS’s strategic vision to strengthen synergy between the health and education sectors, ensuring learning continues in supportive environments. This approach aims to nurture a generation capable of advancing the UAE’s journey of development and innovation.
