As part of the Healthcare Simulation Week 2023, Emirates Health Services (EHS) organised a series of interactive events, activities and competitions aimed at promoting awareness about healthcare simulation and to highlight its role in enhancing healthcare services. The Healthcare Simulation Week was held from September 18 to 22.
Dr. Kalthoom AlBlooshi, Chief Innovation Officer and Director of the Training and Development Centre at EHS, highlighted the importance of developing training and education using simulation programs that enhance the skills of healthcare professionals and patient care efficiency. She said the pioneering simulation studies by EHS will further strengthen the professional expertise of the staff at various health facilities.
EHS annually organises a series of events celebrating Healthcare Simulation Week, aimed at raising awareness of the importance of simulation, and integrating these innovative concepts into the training curricula to strengthen the safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of the healthcare sector.
"The Simulation Competition"
The Training and Development Centre at EHS organised several activities throughout the week, including the "Simulation Competition". This involved a selection of medical personnel and nurses working in EHS' facilities to compete in simulation scenarios that reflect real-life challenges such as first aid for critical conditions and medical crises management.
Mobile Simulation Unit
The utilization of the Mobile Simulation Unit was one of the events that took place across EHS’ facilities that included a series of field training exercises to deal with various critical conditions. Simulation experts at the Centre were relocated to a number of specialised hospitals such as Fujairah Hospital, Saqr Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah and Al Qassimi Women's and Children's Hospital in Sharjah to carry out field exercises to deal with critical cases and measure the readiness of the taskforces in these facilities.
"Moulage Workshop & Competition"
The Training and Development Centre also held the "Moulage Workshop & Competition" with the aim of enhancing the skills in addressing wounds and injuries. Additionally, Journal Club Webinar live discussions took place regarding a recent journal article on healthcare simulation to share knowledge and experiences among the experts and specialists in the field.
