Emirates Health Services launches Excellence Award ‘Tamayyaz’ for its employees

As part of its commitment to promoting a culture of quality and excellence, as well as to developing the work environment, Emirates Health Services (EHS) has launched the Excellence Award ‘Tamayyaz’ in an effort to enhance job performance and competitiveness among its employees, and to recognise those who excel in various functions.

His Excellency Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al-Serkal, Director-General of EHS, said: “Launching the Career Excellence Award is in line with our goals at Emirates Health Services to implement best practices, in an effort to motivate employees in all functions and levels and empower them to play a part in shaping the future of health services in the UAE. The Award also serves to develop our ability to manage career excellence activities, in line with government directives and aspirations to develop capacities and skills of workers in various official bodies and institutions.”

H.E. Al-Serkal went on to explain that the Award aims to enhance the level of preparedness among outstanding EHS employees and qualify them for the Prime Minister’s Medals category of the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award, in addition to building an institutional database of outstanding EHS employees and preparing them for local and international awards.

“EHS took the initiative early on to create a stimulating work environment with a comprehensive strategy to develop employees’ skills through a series of programmes, initiatives, and awards that aim to promote best practices,” H.E. explained. “The objective is to prepare our teams and meet all of their needs in a work environment characterised by constructive competition to drive sustainable development, all the while helping achieve our goals and future aspirations.”

The Award includes three main categories and 12 sub-categories, including “Supervisory Categories”. Department Managers and Hospital Managers are among the mandatory categories, in addition to the category of Doctors Working in Hospitals, Primary Healthcare Centres, and Specialised Centres, among others. Also on the list are the Specialists, Youth, and Customer Happiness categories, along with the Government Communication category, Future Jobs, and Innovative Employees. The registration period for the various categories of the Award will be opened in the first quarter of 2023.

The ‘Tamayyaz’ Award is based on five criteria, the first of which is the personal efforts and outstanding achievements made by the employee during their career, which exceeded their set objectives and added value to them and to EHS. The criterion also assesses the ability to link the achievements of the employee to the goals of their organisational unit and measure their impact on achieving EHS’ objectives.

Second is learning and development, through efforts made by the employee to advance their academic and practical learning and enhance its impact on the development of individual and institutional performance. Thirdly, the innovation criterion focuses on the efforts made to address institutional challenges, as well as the volume of unconventional and creative ideas, and entrepreneurial initiatives that the employee presented, the number of ideas and initiatives they implemented, and the results and impact they had.

Fourth on the list is Positive Citizenship, which focuses on efforts to embody the values of national identity, patriotism, and pride in the UAE’s achievements, as well as efforts to safeguard and advance them, and promote positivity inside and outside the workplace. Last but not least is Leadership Spirit, which is reserved for the Supervisory Category and evaluates candidates’ vision for shaping the future, as well as their ability to fulfil visions and objectives through effective planning and optimal use of resources to create added value, serve the community, and build a healthy, positive, competitive, and stimulating work environment.
