Emirates Health Services (EHS) inaugurated today the Middle East’s first integrated breast imaging unit at the Family Health Promotion Center in Sharjah. This landmark initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of early breast cancer detection and prevention by integrating the latest medical technologies within a single diagnostic environment.
The new unit features a state-of-the-art breast computed tomography (Breast CT) scanner, powered by the latest global technologies. This advanced system offers high precision in imaging dense breast tissue, enables fast and painless examinations, and operates with low radiation doses. The unit is also equipped with cutting-edge ultrasound and digital mammography systems, ensuring a comprehensive and precise diagnostic experience completed within a single day, in line with the highest international standards for early detection.
His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al-Naqbi, Acting Executive Director of the Supportive Health Services Sector at EHS, emphasized that the opening of the breast imaging unit represents a qualitative addition to the national healthcare sector. It embodies EHS's ongoing commitment to developing an integrated, flexible, and sustainable health system based on innovation and aligned with global best practices. This contributes to raising the efficiency and quality of healthcare and solidifying the UAE's position as a leading regional hub for medical innovation and diagnostic excellence.
H.E. added that the unit enhances the healthcare sector's readiness by providing advanced preventive services that facilitate the early detection of breast cancer and reduce complications, thereby positively impacting recovery rates. He noted that this unit is in line with EHS's vision to accelerate and simplify the diagnostic journey by offering a package of services in one location and providing accurate results in record time, which enhances customer satisfaction and boosts the efficiency of medical resources.
Dr. Amina Al Jasmi, Director of the Radiology Department at EHS, stated that this integrated unit simplifies the medical examination experience by reducing the number of visits and speeding up diagnostic procedures. This encourages women to undergo regular screenings as a first line of defense against breast cancer. She stressed the importance of early examination in reducing morbidity rates and improving treatment response. Dr. Al Jasmi added that the unit's operational design allows for the diagnosis of cases in a single visit, eliminating the need for repeated appointments and saving customers time and effort. She also explained that accompanying awareness programs help raise community awareness and encourage women to utilize these specialized preventive services.
The opening of the new unit is part of EHS's commitment to achieving the goals of the Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme by simplifying the customer journey, reducing the number of visits to healthcare facilities, accelerating the process of obtaining results, and enhancing the accuracy of early diagnosis. This improves the chances of successful treatment, increases survival rates, and enhances the quality of life. EHS plans to expand this model to other healthcare facilities in the coming phase to promote sustainability and operational efficiency.
