Emirates Health Services Launches New Digital Solutions to Enhance Customer Experience and Expand Virtual Care Scope
Emirates Health Services (EHS) has announced the launch of a package of new digital services, reflecting its ongoing commitment to accelerating the pace of digital transformation and delivering innovative healthcare services that enhance customer experience and improve access to healthcare.
The first service enables the booking of elastography scans through digital channels, ensuring an organized booking process and reducing the need for in-person visits to healthcare facilities. This service empowers customers to electronically book examination appointments, improves appointment management efficiency, reduces time and effort, and enhances the patient experience by providing integrated digital services.
The second service provides virtual video consultations at public health centers for communicable disease services and a number of EHS hospitals. This is facilitated through EHS smart application and patient portal, allowing customers to obtain remote medical consultations in a flexible and seamless manner without the need for physical attendance, within a framework that ensures the continuous delivery of highly efficient healthcare.
The third service allows customers to request medical reports after visiting primary healthcare centers through EHS digital channels. This service adopts the same mechanisms and procedures used for requesting medical reports after hospital visits.
Engineer Amal Karmostaje, Director of the Technical Support Department at Emirates Health Services, emphasized that the launch of these services reflects EHS direction towards redesigning the customer experience through practical digital solutions that enable access to healthcare services with greater efficiency and flexibility. She noted that these services enhance the continuity of healthcare, improve appointment management, and provide multiple options for receiving services, keeping pace with the accelerated shift towards virtual care models in the country.
EHS clarified that the virtual consultation service is currently dedicated only to follow-up appointments and does not include referrals or new appointments, confirming that the treating physician has full authority to determine the most appropriate type of visit—whether virtual video, telephone, or in-person—according to the patient's health condition. EHS also stated that the virtual video consultation service is currently available only to UAE citizens, with plans for future expansion to enhance the inclusivity and sustainability of digital services.
These initiatives fall within the framework of Emirates Health Services’s strategy aimed at developing advanced digital healthcare services that support quality of life and establish a pioneering model in delivering integrated healthcare that places the customer at the heart of the innovation ecosystem.
