Emirates Health Services (EHS) organised a ceremony to mark World Family Doctor Day, celebrating their outstanding efforts to provide care for all members of the family, and educating the public about means to prevent communicable and non-communicable diseases.

The celebration is part of EHS’ efforts and commitment to highlighting the role that family doctors play in driving the development of health services in their communities, and boosting confidence in the sector by providing comprehensive healthcare for all family members, ensuring patients’ positive response to treatment and speed of recovery.

The event screened a video about the role family doctors played during COVID-19 pandemic, to highlight their efforts and honour the “frontline heroes”, graduates of the family medicine residency programme. EHS also held a panel discussion titled The Future of Family Medicine, along with an array of interactive activities accompanying the event.

Dr Yousif Mohammed Al-Serkal, Director General of EHS, appreciated the efforts of family doctors, noting that Emirates Health Services takes immense pride in them and appreciates the vital role they play in supporting their counterparts, their dedication to fulfilling their duty in times of health crises, and their unwavering efforts to provide the highest standards of medical services to families.

“We are committed to highlighting the importance of family doctors in spearheading progress and transformation in the health sector, encouraging trends towards specialisation, and focusing on family medicine given its role in the growth and prosperity of communities. This is in line with the directives and visions of the wise leadership that led the way in recognising the importance of family doctors and their pioneering role in promoting an integrated and sustainable healthy environment by preserving the health of all family members.”

The UAE’s wise leadership has provided family doctors with all the tools they need to provide healthcare services that align with international best practices, as well as with national strategies and EHS’ objectives and aspirations,” Al Serkal added. “Emirates Health Services has spared no effort or resource to support and upgrade the healthcare sector, establishing its reputation as a leader and pioneer on the local and international levels.”

World Family Doctor Day is an important occasion for Emirates Health Services to highlight its pioneering efforts to enhance performance across the healthcare sector, where the EHS teams play a critical role as “frontline heroes”, especially during health crises.
