Emirates Health Services opens an Obesity Treatment Clinic in Sharjah Kuwait Hospital

Emirates Health Services (EHS), represented by Sharjah Kuwait Hospital, one of its facilities, announced the launch of a specialized Obesity Treatment Clinic, in a new step that reflects the hospital’s commitment to providing comprehensive medical services to the community.

The clinic will provide a comprehensive treatment plan that includes an accurate assessment of the patient’s health condition, identifying factors affecting weight gain, in addition to developing a customized nutritional program and thorough medical monitoring. Patients will also be directed to suitable sports programs and educational sessions about healthy lifestyles.

H.E. Dr. Essam Al Zarooni, Acting Executive Director of the Medical Services Sector at EHS, confirmed that the launch of the clinic aligns with the EHS’ strategy and endeavors to provide comprehensive and integrated healthcare, disease prevention, and supporting the strategic goals of life quality by promoting the adoption of healthy lifestyles that prevent obesity and its consequences through non-surgical methods.

Afra Salem, Director of Kuwait Hospital in Sharjah, noted that the launch of Obesity Clinic aims to enable the relevant groups to control excess weight, by setting clear goals and indicators to monitor improvement according to a specific schedule. The clinic provides high treatment standards for all individuals who suffer from obesity, in line with EHS’ vision aimed at reducing obesity-related diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and heart diseases, to ensure a healthy society.

Dr. Saima Majid Mattoo, an internal medicine specialist at Sharjah Kuwait Hospital, explained that the new clinic includes an integrated team that provides a customized weight loss plan based on metabolism, physiological state, and physical activity, to achieve the best possible results for weight loss. Additionally, fibers examination to detect liver fat will be done on a regular basis for patients. She also noted that the treatment plan includes consultations from all relevant specialties according to the suitable plan for each case, with continuous follow-ups to reach a healthy weight.

Obesity is one of the major health challenges facing modern societies, and requires special medical attention to deal with. The new clinic aims to provide specialized services to individuals who suffer from obesity, whether it is mild or severe, in order to achieve weight loss in a healthy and effective way. This will be done through taking radical steps along with a clear plan consisting of several stages, which includes examining individuals by an obesity specialist, nutritionist, physical therapist, and mental health expert.
