Emirates Health Services (EHS), represented by its Nursing Department, organized the Nursing and Midwifery Professional Development Conference under the theme “Empowering Professional Development with Innovation and Clinical Educator Excellence” at the Movenpick Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai. The event saw the participation of over 160 attendees and 40 speakers from local, regional, and international healthcare and academic institutions, reflecting EHS’s commitment to building a highly competent nursing workforce capable of leading excellence and sustainability, in alignment with The UAE National Strategy for Nursing and Midwifery – Roadmap for 2026.
His Excellency Dr. Essam Al Zarooni, Acting Executive Director of Clinical Services at EHS, emphasized that the conference reflects EHS’s strong commitment to advancing professional development and enhancing the competency of nursing professionals in line with the highest international standards. He added, “Nursing is an essential pillar of healthcare systems, and our continued investment in nursing education ensures EHS’s readiness to adapt to global shifts in healthcare. It also supports the UAE’s goals for comprehensive and sustainable health coverage.”
Dr. Sumaya Al Blooshi, Director of Nursing Department at EHS, stated that the conference serves as a strategic platform for knowledge exchange and future-focused dialogue. She added, “We are committed to empowering nursing and midwifery professionals with evidence-based practices and interactive learning environments. This aligns with our vision to position the UAE as a global leader in clinical and academic nursing innovation.”
The two-day conference addressed five core themes: innovations and emerging technologies in nursing and midwifery professional development, evidence-based practices for healthcare system transformation, interdisciplinary health education, cross-training between general and specialized nursing, and transitional phases in nursing careers.
The program featured keynote lectures, panel discussions with nursing leaders from the UAE and abroad, and presentations by young nurses in the New Graduates Practice Transition Program. Interactive workshops on wound care and medical injury simulation (Moulage) were conducted, alongside a showcase of five innovative ideas to enhance remote learning in nursing education, with attendees voting to select the winning concept.
