With the start of the 2025-2026 academic year, the Emirates Health Services (EHS), represented by its Nursing Department, announced the readiness of nursing teams in the school clinics under its supervision to welcome students. EHS reaffirmed its commitment to delivering high-quality preventive and healthcare services to foster a safe and healthy learning environment.
H.E. Dr. Essam Al Zarooni, Acting Executive Director of the Medical Services Sector at EHS, extended congratulations to educational and administrative bodies, parents, and students on the new academic year, wishing them a successful and productive year.
He stated: “The preparedness of school clinics at the start of the academic year reflects EHS’s dedication to supporting the educational journey through an integrated healthcare system. We continue to collaborate with stakeholders to enhance student health and safety, ensuring the ongoing development of school health services. This contributes to nurturing innovative generations capable of serving the nation and actively advancing sustainable development.”
Dr. Sumaya Al Blooshi, Director of Nursing Department at EHS, emphasized that nursing teams were equipped through intensive training programs in first aid, emergency management, and student mental health to elevate the quality of care in school clinics. She added: “A 96.9% rate achieved in last year’s annual survey of government school principals’ satisfaction underscores the confidence in our services. We remain committed to enhancing the skills and competencies of nursing teams to deliver the highest levels of care for our students.”
Services provided by EHS in school clinics include comprehensive annual student screenings (height, weight, BMI, vision tests, etc.), educational workshops, first aid and emergency response, referrals to health centers or hospitals when needed, vaccinations under the National Immunization Program, oral and dental health services, and follow-ups for infectious diseases and mental health.
EHS oversees 312 government schools and 333 school clinics, in addition to providing nursing staff for seven new Zayed Educational Complexes across the UAE. Notably, Emiratization within government school nursing staff rose to 12.5% of total school clinic nursing personnel in 2025.
EHS prioritizes the continuous development of school health policies and standards in line with the national school health model, collaborating with local and international partners to sustain professional efficiency and promote student health awareness year-round.
