Emirates Health Services (EHS) has achieved a groundbreaking milestone in international accreditation, becoming the largest provider of accredited rehabilitation facilities in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. A total of 16 EHS-affiliated healthcare facilities have been certified by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) in a single round, a first for the region. This unprecedented accomplishment underscores the growing global confidence in the quality of the UAE’s healthcare system and its leadership in delivering specialized care aligned with the highest international standards.

His Excellency Dr. Yousif Mohamed AlSerkal, Director -General of Emirates Health Services, expressed pride in the achievement, stating: “This accreditation serves as a global endorsement of EHS’s pioneering role in advancing specialized rehabilitation services and reflects our progress in building an innovative healthcare model. It will enhance our ability to expand smart rehabilitation offerings and deliver advanced, patient-centric therapeutic experiences that exceed expectations, solidifying the UAE’s position among leading nations in healthcare quality.”

His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al-Naqbi, Acting Executive Director of the Supportive Health Services Sector at EHS, emphasized that the three-year CARF accreditation reflects EHS’s commitment to integrated, world-class rehabilitation services. “This achievement results from a strategic, systematic development plan to ensure patient safety, involve families in treatment plans, adopt evidence-based performance indicators, implement global best practices, and leverage cutting-edge medical technologies,” he added.

Latifa Mohammed Rashid, Head of the Health Support Department at EHS, praised the exceptional efforts of rehabilitation teams, highlighting their collaborative spirit and dedication to excellence. “This accreditation is a direct outcome of the culture of excellence ingrained within EHS and our unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional, high-quality care for rehabilitation patients,” she noted.

CARF accreditation is a prestigious global benchmark in rehabilitation, signifying EHS’s dedication to enhancing quality of life through sustainable, efficient, and reliable therapeutic services within an innovative, integrated healthcare framework. The accreditation aligns with national health strategies and goals.

The rigorous evaluation process spanned multiple days, involving CARF experts who reviewed policies, assessed rehabilitation programs, conducted interviews with staff and patients’ families, performed site visits, and analyzed statistical indicators and performance outcomes. The accredited facilities include all eligible EHS hospitals, as well as the Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine center in Ras Al Khaimah.

This milestone marks a significant leap forward in advancing professional and clinical practices while expanding specialized rehabilitation programs to global standards. It reinforces EHS’s position as a leading provider of rehabilitation services and a key contributor to strengthening the competitiveness of the UAE’s healthcare sector.
