As part of its efforts to reinforce a culture of institutional innovation and enhance the participation of young talents in envisioning future solutions to development-related challenges, Fujairah Hospital, part of Emirates Health Services (EHS), organised a youth hackathon titled ‘AI-Powered Innovation in Sustainability’.

The event aimed to harness modern technologies in developing innovative solutions that contribute to enhancing sustainability, improving resource efficiency, elevating quality of life, and supporting the digital transformation journey.

Dr. Ahmed Obaid Al-Khadeim, Director of Fujairah Hospital, affirmed that investing in young talents and empowering them to leverage artificial intelligence in devising practical solutions is a fundamental pillar for building a more resilient and sustainable healthcare system.

The hackathon, he explained, reflects the direction that Emirates Health Services has adopted toward fostering an institutional environment that encourages innovation and transforms promising ideas into actionable initiatives that create tangible impact in terms of service development and operational efficiency, in line with the UAE’s sustainability and digital transformation goals, and in a manner that boosts the healthcare sector’s readiness for the future.

The hackathon served as an interactive platform that brought hospital employees and representatives from Youth Councils across various entities in the Emirate of Fujairah, together to exchange expertise; develop innovative ideas and projects to address environmental, operational, and community challenges; and apply artificial intelligence technologies in designing practical, value-added solutions that support the sustainable development journey.

The hackathon’s activities focused on developing participants’ skills in creativity, design thinking, and problem-solving, in addition to promoting a culture of collaboration and knowledge-sharing. This, in turn, supports the transformation of outstanding ideas into implementable projects that contribute to elevating institutional performance and enhancing service quality, in line with EHS’s strategic direction to establish innovation as an institutional approach to achieving sustainable value for customers and the community at large.
