Emirates Health Services, the leading healthcare provider in the UAE, announced that Its Fujairah hospital has received the Advanced International Accreditation as a center of excellence for Myocardial Infarction diseases. The accreditation was granted by the Joint Commission International (JCI), as part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to implement the National Index regarding the percentage of Accredited Health Establishments, and to realize the organization’s strategy of strengthening the quality, safety, medical, health and pharmaceutical systems as per the best international standards. This will be positively reflected on cementing the UAE’s position and competitiveness and the excellence of EHS in healthcare.
Ahmed Obaid Al Khadim, Director of Fujairah Hospital, emphasized the effective impact of the accredited excellence programme the quality of life of the patients.
“The program relies on calculating the time taken from the moment the patient arrives at the emergency department until the start of the installation of the cardiac brace network and ensuring the removal of blood clotting and opening of the artery,” he said. ‘’Speed and accuracy in treating acute Myocardial Infarction play a vital role in maintaining the efficient functionality of the cardiac muscle, thus saving patients’ lives. Our care does not stop with patients leaving the hospital; we continue to monitor their overall health and in completing the treatments even after they leave the hospital. We also enroll them in a rehabilitation programme.”
An international specialist assessment tour was undertaken for detailed assessment, which covered the accident and Emergency department, cardiac catheterization department, intensive cardiac care department, intensive care department, as well as internal medicine departments, laboratories and outpatient clinics.
The inspection tour included a review of the Centre of Excellence's treatment methodology for Myocardial Infarction diseases, which focused on involving all members of the medical staff - physicians, nursing staff, physiotherapists, nutritionists, psychiatrists and psychologists – in all stages of treatment, as well as assessing the performance indicators used by physicians, professionals and medical staff to evaluate their performance and develop their skills on a regular basis.
The assessment also included interviewing a group of patients receiving medical services in Acute Myocardial Infarction Center, to assess the level of satisfaction with the healthcare provided to them. They expressed their gratitude to Emirates Health Services and thanked all hospital staff for providing outstanding healthcare services.
