Kuwait Hospital in Sharjah, part of the Emirates Health Services Foundation, marked Zayed Humanitarian Day, which occurs annually on the 19th of Ramadan. This event draws inspiration from the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, honoring his commitment to compassion and generosity.

Afra Salem, Director of Kuwait Hospital in Sharjah, highlighted that this occasion serves as an annual reminder to foster a culture of solidarity and support for those in need. She emphasized the hospital's dedication to embodying these values through various health and humanitarian initiatives, including free surgeries for patients from low-income backgrounds, aligning with the foundation's mission to provide inclusive healthcare for all.

The initiatives featured specialized surgeries across the general surgery and orthopedic departments. Noteworthy procedures included a delicate surgery to repair an incarcerated umbilical hernia with intestinal obstruction for a woman in her fifties, as well as a successful operation for another patient with a hernia near the navel. Advanced surgeries were also performed in the orthopedic department, such as repairing an elbow dislocation for a woman in her sixties and removing fixation materials from a knee to improve another patient’s quality of life and restore normal mobility.

Beyond the surgeries, hospital staff also engaged with patients in the wards, ensuring their well-being, offering gifts, and spreading hope. This initiative reflects the core values of humanitarian service established by Sheikh Zayed, which continue to underpin the UAE's ethos.

Through these efforts, Kuwait Hospital in Sharjah reaffirms its commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare services that meet the highest international standards, while reinforcing the Emirates Health Services Foundation's role as a leader in medical care and humanitarian efforts, in alignment with the UAE leadership’s vision of being a global model of generosity and human solidarity.
