In a move that embraces the latest advancements in physiotherapy, Saqr Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah, part of Emirates Health Services, has enhanced its therapeutic offerings with the introduction of the "SpineMed" spinal decompression system. This cutting-edge device is the first of its kind within EHS facilities and provides a non-surgical alternative to address chronic pain and improve the quality of life for patients suffering from spinal disorders.

This innovative technology is part of a series of advanced interventions for spinal conditions. The SpineMed system effectively relieves pressure on vertebrae and spinal discs and is used to treat a wide range of spinal issues, including herniated discs, facet joint arthritis, sciatica, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, and non-specific back and neck pain.

Dr. Muna Al Ayyan, Director of Saqr Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah, emphasized that the addition of the SpineMed system marks a qualitative leap in the hospital’s service development. She highlighted the hospital's commitment to equipping patients with the latest global treatment technologies, ensuring effective solutions that alleviate suffering and enhance quality of life.

Dr. Al Ayyan noted that the Physiotherapy Department at Saqr Hospital receives between 120 to 130 patients daily, the majority of whom suffer from spinal and back-related conditions. The new system will significantly improve the efficacy of treatments provided. She explained that the SpineMed protocol involves 20 to 25 treatment sessions, with each session lasting approximately 30 minutes. The frequency ranges from 3 to 5 sessions per week, depending on the patient’s condition.

To ensure optimal outcomes, Saqr Hospital has provided comprehensive and intensive training for its specialized physiotherapy team on the proper use of the SpineMed system. This reflects the hospital's ongoing commitment to medical excellence and delivering the highest standards of healthcare.

The addition of the SpineMed device to Saqr Hospital's range of advanced treatments underscores its dedication to pioneering therapeutic solutions and positions the hospital as a leading reference center for physiotherapy and spinal care. This achievement places Saqr Hospital at the forefront of healthcare providers in the UAE, supporting Emirates Health Services' vision of delivering comprehensive and advanced healthcare through the integration of cutting-edge medical technologies across its facilities.
