As the UAE marks Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, which falls on the 19th of Ramadan each year, hospitals and healthcare centres affiliated with Emirates Health Services (EHS) organised a total of 114 events and initiatives to commemorate the great humanitarian works of the UAE’s Founding Father and express pride in the country’s notable humanitarian achievements.
EHS strives to build on the prominent platform that this occasion offers in order to promote a culture of humanitarian work as a practice that embodies the national cohesion in the UAE and rallies efforts around the wise leadership. The occasion is ideal for expressing loyalty to the path the Founding Father forged, and for aligning with the UAE’s established approach and dedication to tolerance, the happiness of customers, and enhancing quality of life.
All health departments and facilities under the EHS umbrella played a part in organising events to coincide with the Holy Month of Ramadan and Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, reflecting their aspirations to provide comprehensive, integrated, innovative, and sustainable healthcare to protect society from diseases. Their ambitions include building safe, top-quality systems that align with international best practice and ensure the provision of healthcare services, in accordance with standards of quality, efficiency, and transparency.
Humanitarian Initiatives
The Youth Council at EHS organised a series of events for members of the community, including a blood drive and a holistic examination service. Meanwhile, the Department of Data and Statistics, and Data Dept in the Health Support Services Sector at EHS organised a series of activities to help team members bond during the Holy Month, as the Communication and Marketing Department held the Ramadan Humanitarian Forum with New Muslims, which showcases photos from the life of the UAE’s Founding Father and highlights the good qualities that a Muslim must possess.
EHS’ Pharmacy Department also contributed to a number of humanitarian initiatives, while the Health Support of Customer Happiness Department sought to spread happiness among support services staff, including cleaners, office workers, and security staff. For its part, the Blood Transfusion and Research Services Centre sought to enrich the humanitarian scene with a bundle of noble initiatives.
Commemorating Humanitarian Works
Khorfakkan Hospital held three activities that are scheduled to continue throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan, while Ibrahim bin Hamad Obaidullah Hospital and Obaidalla Geriatric Hospital organised four activities. For its part, Kalba Hospital participated in 11 events, including an exhibition featuring pictures of Founding Father the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and a video to commemorate his humanitarian work, while Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital participated in one event.
Kuwait Hospital in Sharjah marked the occasion with six events, which included offering four surgeries for people with limited income from various nationalities, while Al Qassimi Women’s and Children’s Hospital organised four events that included a visit to the orphanage, a special event for autistic patients, and a tree-planting initiative. Masafi Hospital participated in a humanitarian initiative “for all patients in the emergency department, including employees, customers, and shift workers”.
Al Qassimi General Hospital contributed five activities, including a visit to the elderly home, while Saqr Hospital launched 15 activities. For its part, Dibba Hospital marked the occasion with 14 various activities, while the Muhaisnah Centre organised four events and the Primary Health Care Department in Umm Al Quwain 10 events. Various healthcare centres under the EHS umbrella organised a series of humanitarian activities to mark Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, expressing gratitude to the Founding Father, who established charity and humanitarian work as a mainstay in the UAE, championing the values of tolerance as an integral part of the Emirati identity.
