Emirates Health Services (EHS) has achieved yet another milestone to be added to its series of accomplishments as Al Qassimi Women’s and Children’s Hospital, an EHS facility, has earned Emirati Board Accreditation from the National Institute of Health Specialties (NIHS) for Paediatric Medicine.

This accomplishment reflects the diligent efforts of the medical team at Al Qassimi Women's and Children's Hospital and the rigorous overseeing by the EHS’ Training and Development Center. The program involved 36 resident physicians who were trained by a select group of Pediatricians in various fields.

Dr. Aisha Abdala Alkhaaldi, in charge of the Pediatric Residency Program at Al Qassimi Women's and Children's Hospital, emphasized that the four-year program accredited by the NIHS establishes standards for resident supervision clinically, professional performance assessment, and academic achievements including training hours, scientific research, and participation in medical conferences.

Alkhaaldi elaborated that the success of this program was made possible through the support of EHS’ leadership, especially the Hospital and the Training and Development Center’s support. This in turn reflects effective communication among various departments to provide the best training programs for medical staff, thereby contributing to positive outcomes in the workplace and delivering the highest quality of healthcare services in all EHS’ facilities.

Dr. Layla Taryam, General Academic Supervisor of Continuing Medical Education at EHS’ Training and Development Center, affirmed that the evaluation standards were not limited to resident doctors alone, but also included the doctors responsible for training this batch, which consisted of 42 doctors in various Pediatric specialties at the hospital. The evaluation criteria focused on the professional development of supervising doctors, their participation and commitment to evaluation standards during resident physicians training, and the academic achievement of doctors in medical research and their scientific contributions at international and global forums.

Program accreditation is a distinguished recognition granted to hospitals and healthcare entities in the UAE offering specialized training and postgraduate studies in the healthcare field. It involves meeting the standards set by the National Institute of Health Specialties (NIHS), completing the accreditation application process, fulfilling requirements for evaluative site visits, and providing the necessary information and data for training programs.
