The service is designed to support hospitals and one-day surgery centers by delivering vital units of blood and its essential components, such as platelets and plasma, to fulfill a wide range of medical needs.

Conditions & Requirements

A signed contract between EHS and the receiving hospital or one-day surgery center is required for the provision of blood

Blood units and blood components are free for public sector hospitals

Irradiation of blood units and components using approved techniques: AED50 plus the initial fees before irradiation

Platelet Apheresis Unit or Pathogen Inactivated Pooled Platelet Unit: AED1500

Concentrated Platelet Unit: AED450

Packed RBCS Unit: AED600

Fresh Frozen Plasma Unit: AED600

Leucodepleted Packed RBCS Unit: AED850

Required Documents

  1. A copy of the Blood Units Provision Contract between EHS and the private hospital

  2. A Blood Request Form clarifying the quantities of blood units and type of blood components required. Blood units will be provided on the day of approval or as agreed with the donor center

  3. For private hospitals, fees may be paid through eDirham at the Blood Bank center
